Initially I was planning to purchase Cross medalist which is silver with gold finish but after a lot of thought, I finally decided to purchase Waterman Expert. The Pen is simple, stylish, masculine and not too flashy like Cross. I reviewed many other pen companies but Pen heaven offered the best deal. I was also unsure about the engraving but it really does look beautiful. I'm on my third Waterman Expert in about 20 years: the first one having been unfortunately dropped from a great height and the second one lost. All three have been superb. They never blot or leak. Once the nib is used to my strange left-handed writing they are superbly smooth. The barrel is also fat enough that my hand doesn't hurt even if I have writing for a protracted period. I've tried all manner of pens: ball-point, gel pens etc. and also tried various much more expensive fountain pens. But I always return to my Waterman and it is used every day and has never let me down yet. 3rd Oct, 2011
