Buyers Guide > Ergonomic Pen Guide
Ergonomic Pens have become very popular due to the increased awareness of of how our bodies inter-relate with technology. Ergonomic design was first applied to products by the Ancient Greeks, aiming to optimize human well-being and overall performance. Writing strain is a common problem associated with the traditional pen, caused by excess pressure on the thumb and forefinger. As we write, our hands have a tendency to slip down the barrel of the pen causing us to grip even harder, which puts more stress on the hand. Writing strain can eventually lead to cramps, which makes writing very painful and awkward.
Ergonomic pens aim to reduce the pressure we apply to the paper as we write, by reducing the need to grip the pen so hard. The simplest solution has been to design more comfortable pen grips that stop the hand slipping to the tip of the pen, usuallly made from rubber.
